چکیده

We present the results of a detailed study on the acceleration of intense ion beams by relativistic laser plasmas. The experiments were performed at the 100 TW laser at the Laboratoire pour L’Utilisation des Lasers Intenses (LULI). We investigated the dependence of the ion beams on the target conditions based on theoretical predictions by the target normal sheath acceleration (TNSA) mechanism. A strong dependence of the ion beam parameters on the conditions on the target rear surface was found. We succeeded in shaping the ion beam by the appropriate tailoring of the target geometry and we performed a characterization of the ion beam quality. The production of a heavy ion beam could be achieved by suppressing the amount of protons at the target surfaces. Finally, we demonstrated the use of short pulse laser driven ion beams for radiography of thick samples with high resolution.

Generation and Application of Energetic Heavy Ion and X-ray via 12tw50fs Laser-solid Interaction

Energetic ions and ultrashort X-rays were generated by an intense ultrashort laser interacting with a copper target. Fast ions up to 3 MeV were observed with CR-39 nuclear track detector sheets when 7 TW laser was used. Cu ∼ Cu ions with the energy from 50 keV to 220 keV were detected with a Thomson parabola detector in the case of the laser power of 2.5 TW. Time-resolved X-ray diffraction was ...

Study of laser ablation using nano-second laser pulses

In this paper, the laser ablation process based on the irradiation of nanosecond pulsed lasers on a copper target surface in the presence of Helium gas is studied. The dynamical behaviors of the generated plasma in the helium gas and evaporated copper at the atmospheric pressure are examined using a laser pulse, laser wavelength of and intensity of 7×1010W/cm2. A one-dimensional thermal model ...

Femtosecond dynamics of energetic electrons in high intensity laser-matter interactions

Highly energetic electrons are generated at the early phases of the interaction of short-pulse high-intensity lasers with solid targets. These escaping particles are identified as the essential core of picosecond-scale phenomena such as laser-based acceleration, surface manipulation, generation of intense magnetic fields and electromagnetic pulses. Increasing the number of the escaping electron...

Mass-limited Sn target irradiated by dual laser pulses for an extreme ultraviolet lithography source.

A thin Sn film was investigated as a mass-limited target for an extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography source. It was found that those energetic ions that are intrinsic with the mass-limited Sn target could be efficiently mitigated by introducing a low-energy prepulse. High in-band conversion efficiency from a laser to 13.5 nm EUV light could be obtained using an Sn film with a thickness down to...

معرفی و فاکتورهای موثر بر روش‌های آغازش لیزری مواد پرانرژی

Military equipments containing energetic materials are conventionally ignited by heat and through an explosive train. Heat is often created by a flame or electricity from a resistive wire. Energetic materials used in these systems due to electrical inseparation from the surrounded medium are exposed to different electromagnetic radiations and so unexpected ignitions of them are probable. In thi...
